Kenworth’s Updated Tire Pressure Monitoring System

December 12, 2024

Kenworth recently announced a new Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) installment on all 2.1m medium- and heavy-duty trucks. This new system will be available for order on trucks built on or after December 9, 2024.

The TPMS provides drivers with real-time alerts on tire pressure and temperature. Even a 10-psi drop in tire pressure can reduce fuel efficiency by up to 1%. Maintaining proper inflation helps tires wear evenly and last longer.

The sensors are mounted directly onto each valve stem, making them easier to replace during a wheel change compared to the prior band clamp system. It fits tractors or straight trucks, including trucks with pusher or tag axles covering up to 20 individual tires.

Drivers can monitor tire pressure and temperature directly on the digital display. If there are any issues, the dash will display an alert, quickly identifying the tire(s) affected. This feature simplified pre-trip inspections, allowing drivers to identify, inspect, and inflate any low-pressure tires.

Exclusive features of the new system include:

  • Displays Sensor Battery Life
  • Over Pressure Warning
  • Under Pressure Warning
  • Extreme Under Pressure Warning (ex. Pinched, Flat, or Torn Tire)
  • Wheel Unit / Sensor Missing Alert
